Rune Energy

Rune Energy builds modular behind-the-meter micro data centers at solar and wind sites, converting stranded renewable power into bare-metal GPU clusters for AI workloads.

Rune Energy converts stranded renewable electricity into computing capacity. Its modular, behind-the-meter micro data centers are installed directly at solar and wind sites, taking clipped, curtailed or otherwise unutilized power and turning it into GPU compute. The company's RELIC systems connect to native 1500V DC plant buses, bypassing conventional transformers and grid interconnections.

Alongside the infrastructure, Rune Energy sells bare-metal GPU clusters to AI workloads, deployed at the point of renewable generation. Hardware includes NVIDIA B300 servers, high-performance GPU networking and DC power electronics, with cluster sizes ranging from 8 to 1,024 GPUs.

The company reports more than 80 MW of contracted power and over 40,000 fleet operating hours across three continents. Its stated deployment time is weeks, against multiple years for conventional data centers, and balance-of-plant cost is put at 6x lower per MW than conventional data center providers. The currently available SLA is 99.5%.

Technical domains span modular micro data centers, direct-current power electronics, GPU compute infrastructure, high-performance GPU networking, renewable energy integration and behind-the-meter power systems. Further details on founding, team size and funding are not stated.
