Saiia is an industrial heavy civil contractor that develops and expands industrial sites and maintains complex facility environments for heavy industrial organisations across 11 southeastern U.S. states. Founded in 1946 as Birmingham Excavating Co. in Birmingham, Alabama, the company has accumulated more than 70 years of site development and maintenance experience and today employs over 500 skilled workers. It is part of MasTec's Clean Energy and Infrastructure segment.

Its work spans heavy civil construction, industrial site development, capital-project sitework and site infrastructure management, alongside coal combustion residuals management for power generation and industrial clients, mineral and aggregate mining, heavy haul transportation, and landfill and industrial waste stream management. The company serves customers in power generation, mineral and aggregate mining, pulp and paper, and heavy industrial sectors. Operations are supported by more than 630 pieces of construction machinery.
