Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) is a comprehensive public university located in University Center, Michigan. Founded in 1963, the institution has grown from an initial enrollment of 119 students to a current student body of approximately 7,000 to 8,500. It offers over 100 undergraduate and graduate programs with an average class size of 22 students.
The university serves as an economic and cultural anchor for Michigan's Great Lakes Bay Region. Its campus hosts over 170 student clubs and organizations and supports NCAA Division II athletics. SVSU has maintained a founding commitment to academic excellence and community engagement.
Institutional recognition includes being named a "Great College to Work For" for nine consecutive years and receiving the Community Engagement classification from the Carnegie Foundation, a distinction held by only 7% of U.S. colleges and universities.
