Client Overview
Our client is a global technology company operating in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry, specializing in digital infrastructure, enterprise technology solutions, and mission-critical facilities.
The organization delivers end-to-end infrastructure solutions across telecommunications, cloud computing, data centers, enterprise networks, and intelligent digital platforms. With operations spanning multiple countries and large-scale engineering projects, the company partners with enterprise clients, system integrators, and engineering organizations to support the development of highly reliable digital infrastructure.
As the demand for high-performance data center facilities continues to grow, the company is expanding its engineering capabilities and seeking experienced mechanical engineering professionals to lead the design and delivery of advanced HVAC and cooling systems for mission-critical environments.
Job Role
The HVAC Engineer (Data Center) is responsible for designing, validating, and delivering advanced mechanical cooling solutions for large-scale data center facilities. This role oversees the end-to-end engineering process, including HVAC system design, thermal analysis, equipment selection, technical evaluation, stakeholder coordination, and on-site engineering support to ensure reliable and energy-efficient cooling performance.
Working closely with project leadership, consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers, and clients, the successful candidate will ensure that mechanical systems are designed and implemented in accordance with project requirements, industry standards, and operational performance targets. The role also supports technical clarification, commissioning activities, and field issue resolution to ensure successful project delivery and long-term operational reliability.
This position is ideal for experienced HVAC or mechanical engineers with strong expertise in mission-critical cooling systems, thermal management, and large-scale data center infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design comprehensive HVAC and mechanical cooling solutions for large-scale data center facilities, including heat load calculations, airflow analysis, piping layouts, and Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
- Develop and optimize cooling system designs covering chilled water systems, direct expansion (DX), CRAH, CRAC, cooling towers, pumps, piping networks, air handling systems, and hot/cold aisle containment solutions.
- Perform thermal analysis and evaluate cooling system performance to ensure operational efficiency, reliability, and compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Select and evaluate HVAC equipment and mechanical infrastructure to ensure compatibility, energy efficiency, and optimal system performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate HVAC systems with electrical infrastructure, Building Management Systems (BMS), and other mission-critical facility components.
- Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and solution clarification sessions with clients, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Coordinate with equipment suppliers and subcontractors to review technical specifications, resolve engineering issues, and optimize mechanical solutions.
- Support construction and installation activities by providing technical guidance and ensuring mechanical systems are installed according to approved engineering designs.
- Conduct site inspections, review engineering changes, troubleshoot mechanical and thermal issues, and provide recommendations during project execution.
- Work closely with commissioning teams during testing, balancing, system verification, and project handover to ensure successful operation of HVAC and cooling systems.
- Prepare engineering documentation, technical calculations, reports, and project deliverables while maintaining compliance with quality, safety, and engineering standards.
- Support project teams in identifying technical risks, improving system performance, and ensuring timely delivery of data center infrastructure projects.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC system design, thermal engineering, MEP engineering, or mechanical project delivery.
- Proven experience leading engineering activities within data center or other mission-critical infrastructure projects.
- Hands-on experience designing or delivering large-scale data center cooling systems is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of chilled water systems, direct expansion (DX), CRAH, CRAC, cooling towers, air handling systems, heat load calculations, psychrometrics, and thermal management principles.
- Good understanding of electrical infrastructure, Building Management Systems (BMS), and integrated MEP coordination.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, HVAC design and load calculation software, CFD modeling principles, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Able to work under pressure and adapt to dynamic project environments with frequent site deployments.
- Willing to work flexible hours during critical project phases when required.
- Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
