About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong background in High Voltage (HV) design to join a growing engineering design team. This role will focus primarily on data centre substation design, with exposure to broader infrastructure and energy projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for an HV engineer who wants to work on technically challenging projects within a specialist, design-to-commissioning engineering environment, as part of a team currently expanding its capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver HV substation design for data centre and related infrastructure projects, including primary plant (transformers, switchgear, busbars) and associated layouts
- Design and review transmission line elements where required
- Conduct or oversee technical studies including load flow, fault level, and protection coordination studies
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports to a high standard
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, civil, controls) to ensure design integration
- Support grid connection processes and compliance with relevant grid codes and utility requirements
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the team
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant electrical standards, codes, and safety requirements
- Contribute to the growth of the HV engineering capability within the business
Requirements
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in high voltage electrical engineering design
- Demonstrated experience in substation design (primary plant design essential; secondary/protection systems experience an advantage)
- Experience with data centre electrical infrastructure highly desirable
- Experience in renewable energy projects (e.g., wind farm, solar) will also be considered favourably
- Prior involvement in grid connection studies and utility liaison preferred
Technical Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of HV systems (33kV and above; transmission-level experience preferred)
- Proficiency with relevant design and power systems analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD, DIgSILENT, AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent)
- Solid understanding of applicable electrical design standards and codes
- Strong technical report writing and documentation skills
Other Requirements:
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across international teams
- Full-time availability
- Open to candidates of all backgrounds; this role is open for all races
