Enbridge is a North American energy infrastructure company, incorporated in 1949, that transports energy through a network spanning liquids pipelines, natural gas pipelines, gas utilities and storage, and renewable energy. It employs about 16,000 people, with a workforce concentrated in Canada and the United States.
Four core businesses make up the company. Its liquids pipelines move roughly 30% of the crude oil produced in North America; its natural gas pipelines carry nearly 20% of the natural gas consumed in the United States. Its gas utilities and storage operation is the largest natural gas utility in North America by volume, serving 7.1 million customers. Its renewable energy portfolio comprises more than 40 projects across wind, solar and offshore wind, with more than US$8 billion committed.
Alongside these businesses, Enbridge works on renewable natural gas, carbon capture and hydrogen, which it describes as a practical approach to the energy transition. The company has set a target of net-zero emissions from operations by 2050, and states that its values are safety, integrity, respect, inclusion and high performance.
